In 2010-11, Ipso facilitated several trainings for medical doctors and psychologists of the Mental Health and the Ali Abad Hospital in Kabul in psychiatry, neurology and psychotherapy in cooperation with Prof. Andreas Heinz of the Charité Berlin. The medical doctors were taught clinical decision making and options for psychiatric and psychological treatment of psychiatric and affective disorders. The project however did not only aim to improve the knowledge and skills of the health staff but also to motivate them as service providers and to improve their teamwork. The trainings raised the standards of care for patients and paved the ground for follow-up projects improving the mental health services of the Afghan Ministry of Public Health.
