Millions of Ukrainians are directly or indirectly affected by the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, more than 1.5 million people are internally displaced. Since 2017 our project “Let’sTalk” has improved access to psychosocial care for those affected by the conflict in cooperation with Ukrainian psychotherapists.
We have trained more than 30 Ukrainian psychologists in Value Based Counseling (VBC) who are offering their services on our online counseling platform www.ipso-care.com in Ukrainian and Russian. The online counseling allows them to reach out to remote or rural areas in which clients have little access to face-to-face counseling. Regular supervision by senior psychotherapists guarantees the quality of the service. After a start-up phase in which the service built a reputation, it is now overbooked.
We currently seek funding that will allow our Ukrainian colleagues to build on this success and to turn the service into a permanent fixture in the Ukrainian MHPSS landscape. This will require paid managers instead of volunteers as well as an ongoing adaption of the training curricula to social developments in Ukraine and the training of trainers and master-trainers.
